Abstract Expressionism 1980 – 2011. Following the death of her first husband, her return to her Manchester roots, her remarriage, and birth of her fourth child, this period was a new beginning, but was rocked by the deaths of both her sons from her first marriage, in 1982 and 1989. Perhaps as a rebellion against the emotional pain, or perhaps as a cathartic reaffirmation of the joy of life following life loss, her work became ever more vivid, bold and positive from the 1990s as she entered her seventh decade.
